Boston University West Dining Hall Season-4 RTU Replacement

Last summer, Noble Associates supplied a direct replacement Seasons 4 roof top unit. This was installed in a 2-story dining hall building in the Boston University campus. The unit arrived onsite Saturday morning, June 1st of 2024. The unit has 160 tons in DX cooling capacity with 12 scroll compressors and weighed 27,250lbs. The Seasons 4 unit was supplied by Noble Associates, Inc.

Boston University Dining had an existing Trane 130-ton split chiller and Air Handler that needed to be replaced. There was also a demand for extra cooling required for the existing space. The proposed replacement Trane unit would have exceeded the available footprint. Robert Joost from Noble Associates worked with James Avitable from C3 and Seasons 4 to design a single piece to fit on the existing curb. The packaged Gas/Electric VAV unit was also increased from 130 to 160 tons. Because of the size of the unit the condenser section overhung, and a steel structure was fabricated to support the weight. We were also able to keep the original power feed and provide dual power sources saving over 60K in additional electrical expenses to the contractor. Another big win for Seasons 4 exceeding customer satisfaction.
